18. Phones for Schools, Yeshivos & Religious Institutions

Quick answers for administrators evaluating phones for students, staff, or community members.

Do you work with schools and religious institutions?

Yes — it’s one of the largest parts of our business. We work with yeshivos, day schools, seminaries, camps, outreach organizations, and institutional programs across the US, Israel, and internationally.

What’s the typical setup?

Most institutions want a standardized configuration across all their students or staff: a specific list of approved apps, a specific filter policy, and a way for the institution to manage changes without going through each device individually. We provide all of that through our MDM system.

Can we set our own app approval list?

Yes. Whether you need Gmail only, or Gmail + WhatsApp + Zoom + a specific Torah hotline, or some much stricter subset, we configure the devices to match your standard. Apps can be added or removed on request, and changes push to all enrolled devices.

What about WhatsApp? Some yeshivos allow it, others don’t.

We filter WhatsApp two ways:

MegaLife flip phone — heaviest filtering: voice notes and text only, no images, no videos, no channels, no statuses, no profile pictures.

Samsung / Pixel smartphones — lighter filtering: channels, statuses, and AI features blocked, but chats with images and videos work normally.

Your institution can pick which version fits your standard, or mix across different student groups.

Can we prevent students from swapping the SIM into another phone?

Our filter lives on the phone, not the SIM. For institutions concerned about SIM-swapping, we typically recommend a small data plan paired with our filtered phones — it makes swapping less useful. For stricter control, we can also discuss locked-line approaches.

Do you handle phone setup and distribution?

We can ship pre-configured phones directly to your institution or to students’ homes. For larger rollouts (40+ devices), we work with you on logistics, activation, and staff training.

Who do we contact?

Email support@koshercell.org or call (848) 299-4081 and ask for institutional sales. For larger schools or groups, we can schedule a call to walk through the options.
